The Anglicanorum Coetibus Society’s latest podcast features Msgr. Timothy Perkins, whom Pope Francis recently named Chaplain of His Holiness, and played a key role in the development of the North American edition of Divine Worship: Daily Office.
Msgr. Perkins is the Vicar General of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, and is familiar to all the Ordinariate parishes in North America as key liaison between the chancery in Houston and the faithful.
Msgr. Perkins also played a role in the development of Divine Worship: Daily Office, the Daily Office book for Catholics of Anglican tradition in North America.
In the podcast, Msgr. Perkins reflects on the papal honor now designating him monsignor, and what it says of the pope’s confidence in the Ordinariate. He describes how the Daily Office book for the North American ordinariate came into being. And he also speaks about his personal experience praying the Offices, both as an Episcopalian prior to becoming Catholic, and today as a Catholic priest.
Father Perkins reflects on how the Offices can make a profound impact on parish life. He also comments about private chapels and prayer spaces in homes, and the use of bells, to help focus the mind for prayer, particularly with the Daily Office.
