Nigel McBain, seminarian for the Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross, has produced a four-part video series on how to pray with Divine Worship: Daily Office (Commonwealth edition) from a workshop held for the Perth Ordinariate community of Sts. Ninian and Chad. The videos, recorded in October, have now been published on the Perth Ordinariate YouTube channel.
The first video sets up some of the history and background of this Ordinariate form of the Daily Office produced by the Catholic Truth Society. McBain introduces two ways of praying the Office: what he calls “the Simple Form” and “the Ample Form.”
The second video, appropriately entitled “The Nuts and Bolts” continues the dive into praying Divine Worship: Daily Office (Commonweath edition).
The third video explores the General Introduction for this Ordinariate form of the Daily Office. The General Introduction opens first with a reading from the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Second Vatican Council’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Sacrosanctum Concilium.
The fourth video continues the exploration of the General Introduction, and how to pray the office in its proper spirit within the rubrical framework.
The Perth Ordinariate community included two supplements on its website: a noted Ordinariate Evensong and the presentation's workshop handout.
Divine Worship: Daily Office (Commonwealth edition) has proved to be a highly demanded office book, and the video series should be helpful to those intent on exploring its spiritual riches. The first print run – 1750 books – has already sold out at its publisher Catholic Truth Society, and other bookstores.
However, a second printing has been ordered by Catholic Truth Society, which is taking orders now. Those who order now Divine Worship: Daily Office (Commonwealth edition) for Christmas should expect to receive them shortly after the second printing’s February release.
