Ordinariate members and friends by roads, rails, and air are descending on the English seaside town of Torquay for a May 17-19 conference. The town is home to the U.K. Ordinariate’s Parish & Church of Our Lady of Walsingham with Saint Cuthbert Mayne.
“The challenge for all of us all is to encourage each other to come together for this conference and let God speak to us as we seek to serve,” explained Fr. David Lashbrooke, the parish priest for the Ordinariate in Torquay.
The “Risen, Ascended, Glorified” conference is expected to strengthen the bonds of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, particularly after enduring the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The conference is open to both laity and clergy, Ordinariate members and all who are friends of the Ordinariate.
Msgr. Keith Newton, the ordinary of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, will lead the conference.
Msgr. Michael Nazir-Ali, the former Anglican bishop of Rochester who came into full communion through the Ordinariate in October, will also be leading three biblical reflections on the conference’s theme.
The conference will feature Mattins, Evensong, Mass, and opportunities for fellowship over Italian and French cuisine, and free time to explore Torquay, the “English Riviera.”
